Cheryl Nathan grew up in Los Angeles. When her kindergarten teacher gave her mother a paintbrush to take home, Cheryl's life path became clear. After high school, she attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and then worked as a freelance illustrator and designer until she was hired as an art director for a publishing company. Eventually, Cheryl gravitated to the children's book division, and that is when she illustrated her first picture book.
